Getting to know Bridgette
Tell us about your background and where you grew up.
I grew up in “Nowhere,” Nebraska, and got my first camera at a garage sale when I was 10 years old. Then I became a photographer for my high school’s yearbook. After high school, I graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade for 8 years. During that time I married and had two children. I went back to photography and have never looked back!
What brought you to Austin, Texas?
My husband, AJ’s company moved us around for several years and we settled in Texas and we aren’t leaving!
What led you to become a photographer?
I have a cousin in Texas who is a successful photographer and she inspired me to take a chance on myself and my passion and open my photography business.
What’s your favorite type of session and why?
Any session that might be a little challenging because the client doesn’t see how pretty they are or maybe they’re insecure and I can show them how amazing they are. When you can show that to them and they’re blown away or you show a parent their child’s pictures and they cry are my favorite.
What’s unique about what you offer?
I really truly care about the clients and want them to see themselves how others see them. I want them to see how incredible they are. Every day I work to make sure my clients shine. I want to be their rocket fuel for their confidence.
If you could have drinks with anyone alive or dead who would it be, why, and what would you wear?
Oh, I would definitely have drinks with Iris Apfel, the designer. She lived until she was 102! I just loved her style, her attitude, and her love of life. I would definitely wear something crazy like she was always known for.
